Golden Retriever Puppy Meets Her Reflection & Can’t Believe It

Last Updated on September 5, 2026 by Fumipets

This Golden Retriever puppy was taken by surprise when she saw her own reflection in the glass door of the oven. It was one of those adorable moments that many pups experience as they are still learning about the world around them. They often don’t recognize their own reflections, so they may believe they are looking at another dog.

Since canines rely heavily on their sense of smell to understand and identify things around them, seeing an image that has no scent can be confusing for them. As a result, they may bark, stare curiously, or try to figure out who the “other” dog is. The same thing was beautifully demonstrated in this video, as the adorable puppy came face-to-face with her reflection in the most innocent way possible.

Golden Retriever puppy discovers her reflection in an oven door

This Golden Retriever puppy’s face was full of curiosity when she saw her own reflection in the oven door. Meet Ellie, an adorable fur baby who is enjoying every stage of her puppyhood. She is full of life and light and sometimes finds herself in situations that leave everyone amused, just like this one.

As she was simply taking a stroll through the kitchen one day, Ellie suddenly spotted something that immediately caught her attention. She saw her own reflection in the oven door, leaving her completely bewildered. The pup had no idea who she was looking at. She may have thought it was another furry friend or some other creature staring back at her.

She stood in front of the shiny surface, carefully staring at the reflection and trying to figure out exactly what was going on. When nobody from the other side came forward, she began placing her paw on the oven door. She even nibbled and licked the glass, seemingly thinking that the mysterious creature might eventually show itself.

But no one did. Finally, Ellie started barking. Her tiny barks seemed like her way of asking the “other dog” to explain themselves. However, the reflection didn’t cooperate. Her growing curiosity, combined with her adorably confused expressions, made the entire moment even more precious. The paw parent shared that this is most definitely “one of the best parts of the puppy stage.”
