West Point Woman’s Car Stolen, Beloved Pet Missing in Heartbreaking Incident

CLEARFIELD, Utah – A terrifying ordeal unfolded at a Maverik gas station near 700 South and Main Street in Clearfield on July 23rd, around 2 pm when a West Point woman’s car was stolen, and her beloved pet dog, REO, was taken along with it. The incident has left the community shaken and the woman distraught, as she now seeks the public’s help in finding her precious furry companion.

A Frightening Encounter

The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, recounted the harrowing experience of feeling her car keys being snatched from her pocket. She confronted a woman nearby, suspecting her of the theft. Despite the victim’s inquiry, the woman denied any involvement but swiftly left the scene and made her way toward the victim’s car.

A Struggle for the Car, an Innocent Victim

A tense struggle ensued as the suspect attempted to flee with the stolen vehicle. In the chaos, the victim courageously tried to prevent the theft but tragically got dragged by the moving car. The horrific incident left the victim with severe injuries, including a broken elbow, a black eye, bruises to her face and head, and painful road rash on her right side and hand. She was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

REO – A Precious Missing Companion

The West Point woman’s car was taken on a reckless high-speed chase into Salt Lake County, which ended in the car being completely totaled near 2300 North and Redwood Road. The suspect managed to escape the scene, leaving the victim and her beloved pet, REO, in distress. As of now, the whereabouts of REO, a small brown and white Shih Tzu, remain unknown.

REO holds a special place in his owner’s heart, described as extremely friendly and affectionate towards people. His chubby and fluffy appearance is endearing, and he is identifiable by his collar, tag, and microchip.
