Shelter Dog Has People ‘Gasping at His Face’ & a Glow-up Doesn’t Help

Last Updated on July 20, 2026 by Fumipets

In this clip, Prince seemed to perk up whenever someone paused outside his kennel, almost expecting them to come over. Over on @cassondrachristman, a new video introduces us to him, a four-month-old shelter dog who keeps watching visitors pass his kennel, hoping one of them might stop. Prince was found wandering on his own before ending up at Maui Humane Society. His skin issues are slowly healing, and he’s as friendly as they come. Even then, every evening still ends with him back in the same kennel.

Shelter dog continues waiting for people to give him a chance after glow-up

Right away, Prince is watching the people outside his kennel, raising his head whenever footsteps come his way. The on-screen text explains that people often gasp when they see his face, likely because of his healing skin, before continuing without asking to meet him. At only four months old, Prince keeps looking up each time someone passes, as if it’s worth another try.

After watching another day go by, the volunteer comes back with an idea to make Prince’s kennel feel a little more special. She brings in a comfy new bed, gives Prince a quick kiss, and turns his little corner into what she jokingly calls his throne. Prince’s tail immediately starts wagging. Soon, Prince is dressed in a tiny suit with a bow tie, sporting a butterfly collar and happily hanging onto his new plush toy.

For a little while, there was every reason to believe Prince wouldn’t be waiting much longer. Prince settles onto his new bed, dressed in his little suit and looking ready to meet whoever walks by next. Then the video speeds up. People continue walking past. Prince gets up, lies back down, then tries waiting again. By the end of the day, no one has asked to meet him.

Thousands have already watched the sweet shelter dog’s video. And the comments are filled with people wishing someone would bring him home. One commenter wrote, “Just a baby,” while another prayed that someone would give him the fairytale ending he deserves. The caption says Prince is friendly, enjoys being around other dogs, and is still waiting at Maui Humane Society for someone to come meet him.
