The leash is on Buoy, mom is standing in the doorway, and absolutely nobody is moving. The Golden Retriever sits on the verandah just outside, staring down the stairs while mom waits for him to make the next move, any move.
Shared by @buoy.boy143, the video shows her calling his name twice, but Buoy barely acknowledges her. She heads down a few steps and calls him to come along, yet he stays exactly where he is. Even when mom turns around and tries again to get him inside, Buoy just watches her. He is just happy in his indecisive state.

Mom gives the walk another try. “C’mon, let’s go,” she says. But Buoy doesn’t move. She walks farther down the stairs, hoping he’ll finally decide to follow. He watches her from the verandah but stays right where he is, leash still attached and body firmly planted. Mom calls him again. Nothing.
Then Buoy lets out a huge yawn. It is hard to imagine a more obvious lack of interest in an evening walk. Mom explains that the Golden Retriever refuses to go for a walk, but she isn’t getting much of a response beyond that giant yawn. So she turns around and heads back toward the house instead. That doesn’t work either. “He doesn’t wanna go inside,” she says.
Buoy stays put. She calls him again and gives his leash a gentle pull, but he turns his face away and refuses to budge. Mom eventually asks, “Buoy, really?” And somehow, the stubborn Golden Retriever still looks completely adamant about not moving in either direction. The caption gives a little more context: “Wish I could say he was only stubborn at night.” So apparently, this isn’t just an evening mood.
More than 41,000 people have watched the clip, and the comment section has plenty of people recognizing the behavior. One person said they had been waiting 12 years for their dog to refuse a walk. Another summed up Buoy’s expression with a very firm “hell no.” Someone else wondered if he simply wanted mom to sit beside him. Perhaps.
