Puppies Drink Cow Milk
Humans benefit from milk in a variety of ways, from building strong bones to providing much-needed energy. That does not, however, imply that the white substance is in any way helpful to the canine species, including pups. In reality, a puppy’s sole source of milk is its mother.
Weaning
Newborn pups need a lot of milk to develop well, but it doesn’t have to come from a cow. Until a puppy reaches the proper weaning age, his mother’s milk may provide all of his nutritional requirements. According to the ASPCA, mother dogs often begin weaning their pups at about 3 weeks of age, and the process may continue up to 8 weeks, or even slightly longer. During this period, an 8-week-old puppy need just Mama’s milk, so stay away from the “cow juice.”
Even if the mother dog isn’t present, drinking milk from a cow is improper. In these cases, finding a foster doggy mother to nurse or using a canine milk replacer and formula are also essential options.
Diarrhea
Cow’s milk, according to the ASPCA, may have negative effects on newborn pups’ fragile digestive systems — no thanks. If an 8-week-old puppy consumes cow’s milk, he may suffer stomach discomfort and diarrhoea, so don’t take the risk. It’s not worth putting your puppy’s comfort and well-being at risk, so be cautious.
Lactose Intolerance
Although lactose intolerance is often associated with cats, it is also extremely prevalent in dogs. According to the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, many dogs, like cats, are unable to digest milk properly owing to a lack of lactase. Dogs lacking the lactase enzyme are unable to digest milk and other dairy products, resulting in watery faeces and general discomfort.
The bottom conclusion is that milk should not be given to pups or adult dogs. Most of the time, their digestive systems are unable to cope.
Water
Solid meals are almost definitely, if not entirely, a component of a puppy’s regular diet by the time he is eight weeks old. Water, not cow’s milk, is the best beverage for the fluffy cuties, according to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Water is an essential source of nutrition for pups. Keep clean water within easy reach of your dog at all times. The importance of hydration in raising a happy and healthy puppy cannot be overstated.
