If you’ve tucked your pup into bed, you’ll know they can quickly come to expect the royal treatment every day. A favorite blanket, a cozy spot, and one last bit of attention before lights are out can easily become part of the nightly schedule. For rescue dogs, though, those simple comforts carry an emotional weight that isn’t immediately obvious. An Instagram video of an American Bully named Harken is showing exactly why.
Rescue dog who used to sleep outside now has a warm bedtime ritual with his human
The video, posted on Instagram by @happyharken, centers on Harken, an American Bully who was once a stray forced to sleep outside. According to the text overlay in the clip, those difficult nights are now firmly behind him. “POV: you used to sleep outside and now you have designated tuck-in time with dad every night,” the text reads.
In the short video, Harken is captured lying comfortably in bed as his owner gently pulls a comforter over him before settling him in for the night. Calm and content, the dog appears perfectly at ease as he enjoys the cozy routine. It’s a simple moment but one that’s a far cry from the uncertainty he once experienced while living on the streets.
Harken no longer has to search for a safe place to sleep or face cold nights outdoors. Instead, he ends each day in the warmth of a home with someone who makes sure he is comfortable before lights out.
That transformation struck deeply with viewers, especially those who have welcomed rescue animals into their own families. Many said the video reminded them of the small routines that become meaningful after adoption. “From one rescue to another we love our tuck in time,” one viewer commented, sharing that their own adopted dog enjoys a similar nightly ritual.
Others focused on Harken’s comfort, with one person jokingly reminding his owner, “Don’t forget his heating pad.” Many comments also expressed gratitude that Harken had found a loving home after such a difficult start. “God bless yourself and this sweet angel,” one viewer wrote.
