According to ABC News, the dog’s owner, Sasha Koval, 27, was subsequently arrested on July 7th. Koval reportedly admitted to the authorities that she had left her dog in the vehicle overnight while working her night shift, only to discover the pet’s lifeless body the following afternoon.

Koval, who is homeless according to police records, had borrowed her boyfriend’s truck where she left the dog. Tragically, no food or water had been left in the vehicle for the animal’s sustenance during her absence.
Investigations reveal that the dog had been alone in the vehicle for an estimated 20 hours. On that day, Hollywood’s temperatures reached a scorching high of 91.4 degrees, while the nighttime temperatures dropped to a low of 73.4 degrees, as per Weather Channel data.

Despite the nighttime temperature dropping to the low 70s, the interior of the vehicle could have potentially reached a deadly 100 degrees within 20 minutes. Such extreme heat conditions within a confined space like a vehicle can lead to fatal heatstroke in animals.

Koval now faces charges of aggravated animal cruelty and has been released from the Broward County Jail. If convicted, she stands to face a punishment of up to five years in prison and possibly thousands of dollars in fines.
