Those little tippy-taps down the hallway sound perfectly ordinary until Miss Poppy reaches the one thing she apparently cannot walk past. A small purple plush toy is lying on the floor, and the Greyhound has a whole stretch of clear wooden flooring to think about what to do next. In the video shared by @misspoppy.thegrey, Poppy approaches her human, spots the toy near the carpet, and launches herself right over it. She could have stepped around it without breaking stride. Instead, she gives the toy a full jump, leaving her mom laughing at the performance.
Dog turns a small purple plush toy into a hallway hurdle
The video shows her walking down the hallway, with her nails tapping against the wooden floor as she heads toward her human. The little purple toy is sitting innocently in her path. Poppy gets closer, reaches the carpet, and then, up she goes!
It’s not a huge obstacle, and she doesn’t need to leap over it to get where she’s going. But she commits to the jump anyway, landing safely on the other side before continuing toward mom. Her human can be heard laughing at the unnecessary acrobatics. Poppy, meanwhile, seems quite pleased to have made it across.
Poppy’s unnecessary jump has earned 33,600 likes, and the comments suggest plenty of people appreciate her approach to an otherwise uneventful walk.“Good thing she didn’t overreact,” one person joked. Another suggested it “could be radioactive.” Someone else praised her for clearing it, adding that stepping over it “was definitely not an option.”
Poppy’s little Jump has clearly struck a chord with fellow Greyhound fans. These dogs are built for speed, but this was hardly a race. She had one tiny plush obstacle and decided to make a proper event of it. And really, why take one ordinary step when you can add a little drama to the hallway? Poppy makes it to mom without a problem, and everyone gets a laugh out of the trip.
