Duke’s first meeting with Odesa is almost comically polite, considering what this puppy has planned for him. Dad holds the tiny Samoyed close so the older dog can have a sniff, and Duke responds with gentle kisses on her nose. A few seconds later, though, the Malamute seems to reconsider the entire situation and retreats to the living-room carpet while Odesa follows.
The clips shared by @duke.the.malamute go on to show that the beginning of their friendship was anything but smooth. Thankfully, the older dog and his puppy sister eventually figure each other out.

There’s no shortage of puppy energy in this video, and Duke is, unfortunately, involved in all of it. Outside, Odesa and Duke run around the yard. Duke even drops into a play bow in front of her, then gets the zoomies and circles his little sister. The text jokes that he must have thought, “Finally, a friend.” That excitement doesn’t last long.
Once Odesa discovers Duke’s face, ears and tail, apparently all three become available for chewing. She nibbles his cheek while he lies on his bed, then moves on to barking, biting and pulling at his fur. Duke mostly sits there looking toward the camera with an expression that needs no translation.
At one point, Odesa even grabs his tail while he’s lying in the grass. Mom has to step in, and Duke gives her a look that seems very appreciative. The puppy keeps going indoors, too. She bothers him on the rug, nibbles at him and refuses to let him enjoy much quiet time. One clip calls Duke “a golden angel” because he never bites back.
Still, things change as Odesa gets older. The two start playing tug together, chasing each other through the yard and running around the patio. That’s when the older dog adjusts to the new puppy and seems to decide that having Odesa around isn’t so bad after all.
Soon enough, Duke and Odesa are spending most of their time together. They lie with their backs touching, sleep beside each other on a pouf and even follow each other from room to room. If Duke gets up, Odesa is right behind him. If he does something, she apparently needs to try it too. By the end, the big dog becomes friends with the puppy who once refused to leave him alone.
