The person at the table is trying to write, while Bentley is trying to figure out why the pen keeps moving. The Shetland Sheepdog is sitting in his own chair right beside his human, watching the notebook closely before leaning over for a sniff. That sniff turns into a few little nibbles, and soon Bentley is keeping pace with the pen as it travels across the page. Shared by @bentleythesheltiee, the video shows him getting increasingly interested in the clicker at the back, even attempting one proper bite before going back to his gentle nibbling. As the in-video text says, he just wants to be involved in whatever is happening at the table.

Dog finds a very hands-on way to contribute to the homework

Bentley’s human is working at the table with a notebook while Bentley sits beside him, watching closely. For a little while, he just follows the writing with his eyes. Then he leans toward the pen and sniffs it. A few little nibbles follow. The pen keeps moving, so Bentley keeps after it.

He becomes particularly interested in the clicker at the back, gently working at it with his teeth while the writing continues. He gets slightly more ambitious at one point and tries to bite down on the pen properly. Then he backs off and returns to those smaller nibbles. The funny part is how consistently he stays with it. He doesn’t lose interest after one attempt. Every time it moves, he is along with it.

The text on the video says, “this is what I mean when I say shelties have to be involved in everything,” while the caption says he thinks he needs to “help” with literally everything. This particular assignment seems to have caught his attention.

The video has picked up more than 1,000 likes, and Bentley’s idea of helping is getting plenty of laughs. One person rewrote “My dog ate my homework” as “My dog did my homework.” Another called him “Snoopervising.” Someone else described him as “so very helpful,” while several people were simply laughing at how seriously he was taking the job.
