After spending part of his life looking after himself on the streets, Paddington now has someone he can simply reach for when he needs a little comfort. In the video, the rescue dog, who was previously a stray, is lying on the floor, head resting on a thin mattress.
He watches his mom from across the room before lifting one paw as if calling her over. Mirelle soon settles beside him, and Paddington immediately moves closer. Shared by @paddingtonfromperu, the clip is a lovely glimpse of how different life looks for Paddington now — and how a simple snuggle can mean plenty when a dog finally feels safe.
Mom rescues stray dog and teaches him he doesn’t always have to be brave one snuggle at a time
The video begins with Paddington lying quietly on the floor. He looks toward his mom, who is just out of frame, then lifts one paw and gives the air a little pat. It is a tiny movement, but it gets the message across. When Mirelle comes over, Paddington just bows his head. She lowers her face beside his, and he reaches up to rest his paw against her shoulder before moving closer.
Soon, the two are simply lying there together while she softly pets him. Paddington even gives her a little sniff before settling back into the cuddle. Both of them just look so comfortable in the embrace.
That is especially sweet considering where his story began. Paddington was a street dog in Peru when he started following Mirelle during her travels. He eventually made his way through an international rescue process and now lives with her in Yorkshire, where he gets to enjoy a very different kind of life.
A rescue stray dog may spend much of his life having to stay alert, but Paddington’s video shows what happens when he finally has his mom to trust and snuggle with. With his mom beside him, there is no need to keep watch for the next problem.
The clip has already collected more than 10,000 likes in less than a day, with viewers noticing the same little detail: the way Paddington seems to relax once he is in her arms. One person even pointed out how he “exhaled” when he embraced her.
